How to Enjoy Utah’s Ski Resorts During the Summer
Winter isn’t the only time to have family fun and adventures in the mountains! Most Utah ski resorts are open during the summer and offer a variety of activities such as concerts, mountain biking, and more. From movie nights at Snowbird, a slip n slide at Nordic Valley, to hiking at Alta, there are plenty of things to do in the summer at Utah ski resorts.
For the first time ever, Alta will be offering lift-served hiking through Sunnyside chairlift.The Albion Grill will be open for food and drinks, with live music from 3-6pm on Saturdays. There is limited parking in Albion Basin for $6/day and we recommend carpooling. Summer season started June 30th and goes through September 3rd, 2018.
Brighton Resort is not open for the summer, but the mountain itself is very popular to hikers of all levels.
There are a variety of summer activities offered at the base of Snowbird. New for this year, Snowbird has the Woodward WreckTangle- a ninja obstacle course built for family fun. The Tram at Snowbird is open for scenic rides and access to mountain biking as well during the summer. All of Snowbird’s activities are open from 11 am- 8 pm daily. Snowbird also will continue to show free family movies every Friday night on the Tram deck plaza. With an adult Summit Pass, you get unlimited access to the tram in the summer as well as two all-day summer activity passes. With Youth, Teen, and Young Adult passes you receive unlimited access to the tram.
Solitude offers lift-served mountain biking and hiking during the summer. Summer activities at Solitude also include an 18-hole disc golf course, which is open every day. Chairlift access for mountain biking and hiking is open Friday-Sunday.
Park City Resorts
Deer Valley resort is open every day through September 3rd 2018 and offers a variety of summer activities including mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding, fly fishing, hiking, and much more. Snow Park Amphitheatre will be hosting the Deer Valley Concert series, which features world-class acts as well at the Grand Valley Bank Community Concert Series, which is free and open to the public. Additionally, all of the hotels and restaurants are open for the summer- making it the perfect place for a full day of adventure.
Park City Mountain Resort is filled with fun summer activities. Along with mountain biking and hiking, Park City also offers an alpine slide, zip lines, alpine coaster, and mini golf. PayDay, Crescent, Red Pine Gondola, Town Lift, and the Cabriolet Gondola are all open during the summer. New this year, there will be a free summer concert series in the Canyon’s Village every Thursday and Saturday during July.
Nordic Valley boasts a 400 ft slip n slide during the summer that is open is every weekend through August 26th. They are also open for mountain biking and disc golf and feature live music every weekend night from 6-8 pm.
During the summer, Powder Mountain opens their trails for hikers and bikers.
Snowbasin is known for their Blues, Brews, and BBQ during the summer, which transforms the resort into a live concert venue that is free and open to the public. Blues, Brews, and BBQ occur every Sunday afternoon through September. However, Snowbasin also offers free movies every Monday night, disc golf, mountain-top yoga every Saturday morning, mountain biking and more.
Utah’s newest resort is also open in the summer! The resort is open for mountain biking, disc golf, and a giant water slide. The water slide is open to the public on Saturdays along with the Ultimate Bungee and other family-friendly activities. Season pass holders may purchase a $40 upgrade that gives unlimited access to all of Cherry Peak’s activities. They also are hosting a summer concert series, perfect for a night in the mountains. You may purchase an annual Cherry Peak pass, which can either give you 50% off summer activities or include them- depending on your preference.
Beaver Mountain offers both tent and R.V camping during the summer, perfect for a little weekend getaway.
South of Salt Lake
Beginning June 16th, Brian Head offers a variety of festivals and summer activities. Summer activities include mountain biking, disc golf, archery, hiking, live music, and more. The resort will be open every weekend through the summer.
During the summer Eagle Point is home to excellent mountain biking and other summer activities such as golfing and canoeing. With a winter season pass to Eagle Point, you can receive small discounts on summer activities and food.
Sundance provides mountain biking, zip lining, scenic lift rides, horseback riding, and hiking during the summer. Additionally, their restaurants are all open during the summer, making them the perfect ending to a day of adventuring in the mountains.
